Since its inception in 1987, the Iraqi Association (iA) has been helping Iraqis in the United Kingdom.
Every year, on average, the charity deals with more than 10,000 cases. The lives of many of the charity's
users have been shattered by intolerance persecution, war, torture and fear of death.
The organisation offers its services free of charge, aiming at successful integration of the community
in this country that leads to positive contribution to the British society.
The Iraqi Association is the main established registered Iraqi charity in the United Kingdom.
It promotes the success of Iraqis here, and its diverse colourful cultural identity.
Since late 1930's, Iraqis have been coming to Britain. It is estimated that over 250,000 Iraqis live
in the United Kingdom that characterised by different periods, which reflects Iraq's turbulent history.
In Britain, a large majority of Iraqis have British citizenships, while others were born in the country
or seeks sanctuary.
The charity employs 3 full time staff and 5 part times, in addition to that, we work with volunteers
that on average we have 4 regular volunteers every-week.
iA has more than 6 different user-led working groups that includes women,
elderly youth, children, disable and Iraq link. A process of feedback and consultations are used to
improve policies and delivery of services.
